Delhi University PhD Admission 2024: If you want to take admission in PhD course of Delhi University, then this news is important for you. DU will not conduct a separate entrance examination for admission to the PhD course in this academic session i.e. the year 2024-25, but candidates will get admission only on the basis of the score of UGC NET examination. These admissions will be under three categories, details of which we are sharing further.
Apply for NET
If you want to do PhD from DU then you must apply for UGC NET exam. The last date to apply has been extended once again and registrations are still going on. Only on the basis of the score of this examination, you will get admission in the research program of DU. Now the last date has been made 19 May 2024.
Selection will be done through examination plus interview
For admission to DU’s PhD program, only NET exam marks will not be considered, but a major part will be given to these marks. To be clear, 70 percent weightage will be given to NET score and 30 percent weightage will be given to interview. On the basis of both, the final score will be prepared and admission will be given.
Admission will be available in three categories
DU has been following this rule of UGC in which it had said that instead of conducting a separate examination for PhD, a common examination (NET) should be conducted since this year itself. Under this, there will be admissions in three categories. The first category will be of JRF i.e. Junior Research Fellow.
The second category will be for assistant professor and the third for admission in simple PhD. On the basis of UGC NET score, candidates will get admission in these three categories.

There will be no separate exams
UGC says that by taking admission in this way, the need for many exams can be eliminated. At present, the admission method of every university is different and each takes its own entrance examination. By validating the NET score, the same can be used and there will be no need for separate examinations. DU is implementing it.
